About This Blog...

Hey guys! I am honored that you would take the time to read this blog. I hope that what I have to share will be worth your time. You may ask yourself, "What's up with the title of this blog?" The title Siloam's Pool comes from John 9:7. There was a man who came to Jesus who was born blind. As Jesus and the disciples passed by the man, Jesus used this man's condition to teach an important spiritual lesson to his followers. Jesus affirmed that the man had been born blind in order that God might be honored through this man's life. Then Jesus said in a dramatic statement, "We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." (John 9:4-5). He then told the man to go and wash in the Pool of Siloam. The name "Siloam" means "sent." The man went and washed and came back seeing. It is my hope that through this blog, that perhaps someone might see as a result of the truth that is shared here. I will do my best to honor your time. God bless!

Growing Closer through the Word
November 9, 2010

Do you want to grow closer to your spouse? Do you want to have a closer walk with the Lord? I feel that there are many reasons why we do not grow closer in our walk with the God. However, one of the primary reasons is because we don't listen to what He says. Think about this for a moment. If you were to never listen to your spouse or friend, how well do you think your relationship would be. Now, reverse the situation and imagine that you are the one speaking and the other person is not listening to anything you have to say. How do you feel? How is the relationship now?

For many of us the reason we are not closer to God is because we have never taken the time to meet with Him in prayer and in listen to what He says in His Word. We may not know how! Many times churches are guilty of bringing in new members, baptizing them, then sending them out without training them in how to change their lives. We expect people to be different than the world now that they are Christians, but they don't know how to deal with their old sin nature that still creeps up and claws at them. They find themselves succombing to the same habitual sins they struggled with before. Sometimes people even quit, thinking that God has no use for them and that they can never change.

Well, you can change! You can do it! I want to encourage you and tell you that "[you] can do all things through him who strengthens [you] (Phil. 4:13, emphasis added)." I want to begin a journey with you as your spiritual trainer. When you want to lose weight, it helps to have someone that can help you shed those unwanted pounds and do it fast. I want to help jump start your way to a more spiritually healthy you. After all, listen to what Paul says in 1 Timothy 4:7-8, "train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." In the words of the famous Hanz and Franz, "I've come to buff (clap) you up (point)!" Let's work together to become all that God would have us be.

Below, you will find two weeks worth of Bible studies to get you started. I am also going to start a forum that you can post Bible questions and observations about your answers. Don't be afraid to post something and start some discussion. Be sure not to do the Bible studies all in one day. You do not want to rush this process. You will develope a habit of study that will carry you forward in the days to come. Remember, you can't get buff in one day! I hope this will be a blessing to you. Let me know how it is changing your life!
